REVIEW: LIME CRIME VENUS III PALETTE

One of the first ever posts on my blog was a review of the Lime Crime Venus I and II palettes. To this day I still love them and use them frequently. I was so excited when Lime Crime released their Venus III palette a few months ago and when I saw MakeupNet had it on sale, I decided to treat myself and finally get it.

I want to start off by talking about their packaging. One of the things I absolutely love about Lime Crime is that they always put 110% in with packaging. Their Venus palettes, especially, are incredibly beautiful and give you an amazing sense of what to expect when you open it up.

Each Venus palette has 8 shades that all work together. I much prefer palettes like this that have fewer shades that work well together, than one giant palette that has a 12 different colour stories. This palette can very easily create simple everyday looks and dramatic, super glam looks.

I’m not huge on swatches because they don’t show how the shadows really perform, but I know a lot of people like to see them so I thought I’d add this in. This palette has five different shadow finishes:

  • Matte: Buttery smooth and totally matte | Bliss, Dreamy, Ecstasy
  • Shimmer Matte: Matte with a flash of shimmer | Rapture
  • Iridescent Shimmer: Pearly with a high-beam rainbow effect | Beam, Heavenly
  • Glow: Soft, luminous finish. Glowy, not glittery. | Paradise
  • Metallic: Extreme shimmer | Beloved

The iridescent shimmers are very pretty but also very sheer. You really have to layer them if you want to use them on their own. They do look amazing as a topper over other shadows though. The mattes are probably my favourite; they really are buttery and smooth.

These are the two looks I created using the Venus III. I really love how both of them came out and I can see myself using this palette a lot in the future.

I would definitely recommend this palette if you don’t have anything like this in your collection. All of the Venus Palettes are great. The original Venus Palette basically started the trend of warm pink toned palettes (ABH Modern Renaissance & Huda Beauty Rose Gold).
I do plan on getting the Venus XL palette soon, it’s just very expensive here ($75AUD) so I’m waiting to get it on sale.

I used to hate the idea of purple shadows but my husband kept telling me to use purple whenever I would ask him what kind of look to do, and now they’re honestly my faves! x
