REVIEW: LIME CRIME VENUS PALETTES

May 20, 2016

I was given both of the Venus palettes for Christmas and I fell in love! I personally love Lime Crime and I’ve never had a problem with their website or any of their products. I’ve wanted to do a review on them for a while so here is my Lime Crime Venus Palettes Review!

DSC_3989One of the things I love the most about Lime Crime is their packaging. They put so much care and detail into making their products stand out and look amazing! I changed the whole layout of my makeup desk when I got these because I wanted them on display. They are a little bulky, but that doesn’t bother me because I don’t travel so the size is not an issue for me.
Each palette has 8 unique colours and the pans are a decent size. I love that you can create so many different looks with them. Especially if you own both palettes and you can mix and match shades.
Lime Crime eyeshadows are PETA certified vegan and cruelty free.
They also each have a huge mirror which is great! I can’t stand it when palettes have tiny little mirrors, or no mirror at all!

venus1swatchL-R: Creation (matte), Aura (glow), Shell (glow), Venus (velvet matte), Muse (matte), Divine (matte), Rebirth (matte) & Icon (matte).

The first Venus palette is my favourite. It is full of nudes and rusty reds that I love for everyday wear. I’m fairly new to eyeshadow so this was the perfect palette for me to learn with because the colours all work well together, they blend well and are extremely pigmented.
The pictures above were take without any sort of primer. They were just applied straight to my arm with my finger!

venus2swatchL-R: Mustard (creamy matte), Marsh (glow matte), Filter (glow matte), Pigeon (pearl), Boot (sparkle matte), Mud (creamy matte), Jam (creamy matte) & Fly (pearl).

This palette is a little more out there than the first one, but that’s why I love it. Most palettes have one colour scheme, like the first Venus palette did, but this one has so many different colours, that all do actually work together. I haven’t used all of them yet, as I said I’m still new to eyeshadows. But once I get more confident with trying bold looks I’m so excited about using this! I currently only use the “plain” colours like mustard, mud, jam and fly. I’ve used filter once when I was recreating this Celia Leslie look which was so fun to do. I’m very excited to try new looks out with this palette!

venus looks

These are two looks I would wear day to day, going out, at home, ect. They are both fairly simple. I wanted to create a look for each palette and I’m fairly happy with what I’ve done! Also this is my first time taking proper pictures of my eye makeup so I apologise and I hope to get better at it soon!

The left look was created with Venus I using the shades, divine, venus, muse and aura. The right look was created using Venus II using the shades, mustard, jam, mud and fly.
I love pink/red/orange eye looks for my skin tone, so that’s why I decided on these two and I’m super happy with how they turned out!

I’ve never heard of lime crime – I’m assuming this isn’t UK based? They look amazingly well pigmented though!! I am a bareMinerals fan which is also cruelty free – a massive plus for me 🙂

No they’re based in the US. I haven’t tried BareMinerals yet! I’ve seen some of their products in the shops and they look amazing! I can’t wait to try them out! Thanks for reading! X

I don’t wear much in the way of makeup, but I do love a good eyeshadow! I’ve never heard of Lime Crime before, but I’m definitely going to check out their website later!

You’re an amazing makeup artist! I’ve never heard of this company before but really like that the eyeshadows are PETA certified, vegan and cruelty free. So important IMHO when purchasing makeup and skincare. #KCACOLS
