REVIEW: AUSTRALIS BANANA POWDER

29/04/2016

I watch a lot of beauty videos on YouTube and the majority of them love Banana Powder (most of the like the Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder). I wasn’t too sure about it because obviously a lot of YouTubers are paid to talk about products, but when Australis released their Banana Powder I thought I’d give it a try! I’m going to try and do more single product reviews in the future, so I hope you like this.

Australis is one of my favourite brands. I talk about them in almost every post I made. I even did a big Australis review post a few months ago. I was really excited that they decided to take the Banana shade from their contour kits and make a huge, separate product!

What is Banana Powder?: Banana Powder is a finely milled setting powder with a hint of yellow to it. Because of the slight yellow shade, people find that it works well to set concealer under the eyes. The most common use of the banana powder is highlighting under the eyes and in the T-zone.
How do you use Banana Powder?: Everyone has their own way of doing their makeup so I thought I’d share how I use this banana powder in my everyday makeup routine.
Step 1: Usually I don’t wear foundation if I’m having a good skin day, I just wear concealer. I use LA Girl Pro Conceal in the shade medium beige to cover spots, then use the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in the shade 20 Sand under my eyes, on my forehead, on my chin, down my nose and the tip of my nose. I then blend it all with the pointy end of a damp Real Techniques Sponge.
Step 2: Rub the flat end of my Real Techniques Sponge in the Banana Powder and put it over the places I put my Maybelline concealer then I let it sit on my face for about 30 seconds.
Step 3: Using a large powder brush I set the rest of my face with my Savvy Finishing Powder and dust off any excess Banana Powder.

Would I buy this product again?: 100% yes! I absolutely love it. And I’m assuming a lot of other people love it too because they are always sold out. My favourite thing about Banana Powder is that it is perfect for my skin tone. Translucent setting powders make my skin look really white and horrible, but this powder sets my face and brightens my skin! I have really bad dark circles under my eyes and most of the time concealer isn’t enough to cover it, but this powder completely hides them and makes me look so awake.Läs mer här

Hi there, I hadn’t heard of it before so thanks for raising its profile for me. It’s always worth seeing what else is out and about there.

I have never heard of this but do need under the eye help, I am really fair so have always just stuck to very very, ill looking pressed powder. Love hearing about new things #KCACOLS

Hmm, I’ve never heard of banana powder before, but this sounds sooo interesting! I have the same problem as you with many foundations, and find they just completely white me out. But, if I go a shade darker, it’s orange face-so it’s really a struggle for me. Definitely going to be looking into giving this a try-thanks so much for sharing! <3 #KCACOLS

I’ve never tried it but it does sound great – I could really do with something to help hide the black bags at the moment! x #KCACOLS

I don’t wear make up at all (well, only once or twice a year!) but this looks like a really useful product and so reasonable. Thanks for linking up with #KCACOLS. I hope you can come back again next Sunday 🙂

I might try this – I’m quite olive and a lot of normal setting powders make me look chalky! #KCACOLS

That’s the problem I had and this doesn’t do that! Thanks for reading!

Well, I am really glad I read this post. I was trying to figure out what exactly was banana powder? Something to eat? For shakes? As you can see, I am slightly food obsessed! But it’s for your face!! So cool. Thank you for introducing me to it. I’ve never even heard of this brand. Sounds like it would be a good product to have on hand for the future. Great Review! #KCACOLS
